HOW TO APPLY FALSE EYELASHES IN 7 EASY STEPS

False eyelashes, once associated with performers and the glitterati, have been democratized thanks to social media beauty trends (thanks Instagram and TikTok!!!), with people of all shapes, sexualities and genders claiming power in the individuality of makeup.  False eyelashes are the finishing touch to any great makeup look, whether you're going out on the town, dancing the night away, going on date or just getting groceries and wanting to look fabulous! They can help you feel your most confidant and gorgeous with longer, fuller lashes that last.

It is important that when applying your false eyelashes that you take it slow and easy as you always want to protect your eyes, natural lashes AND your false eyelashes from damage!  Follow these 7 easy steps to help apply your false eyelashes for the best natural results!

#1 Prep your natural lashes

After your eyeshadow and other makeup is complete, curl your natural lashes and apply mascara this will help accentuate your false eyelash look after they have been applied.

#2 Trim your eyelash strip

Measure the eyelash strip against your natural eye and trim the false eyelash accordingly by sniping a little off each end to fit.  Make sure the false lash fits your eye shape and size to maximize comfort and prolong the life of the false lash. You can use the excess piece of lash by adding it on top your false lash after applied to give a fuller look with more volume.

#3 Loosen the spine of your false eyelash

In order for the lash to sit properly, comfortably and look its best you will need to loosen it first. Otherwise it may come off the ends after applying it. One trick is to wrap the lash around your finger to help loosen it or take the lash on both ends and make a C shape with it. This will help it fit your eye and stay on longer.

#4 Apply the glue to the false eye lash

Using a set of tweezers, hold out your false lash in front of you and apply a little bit of glue along the strip. Make sure not to apply too much as it shouldn't be running down into the eyelash hairs. You can try using a toothpick to spread the glue along the lash band.

#5 Wait for the glue to dry slightly

After applying the glue to the eyelash strip, wait for the glue to dry and become tacky. This can take between 30 seconds to a minute.  Waiting until the glue is tacky will help the lash stick to your eyelid better and ensure it holds longer.

#6 Use tweezers to place the eyelash strip along your lash line

After the glue has dried, use the tweezers to place the false eyelash on your natural lash line. Start with applying the lash in the center of your eye, pressing it down against your lid.  Use the tweezers to gently press along your eyelid, pressing the false eyelash along the length of your eyelid from the center to the outside and then back to the inner corner of your eye. Make sure you are being gentle with the tweezers.

#7 Use eyeliner to cover up the lash band

After the lash is applied, apply eyeliner to cover up the false lash band. This will give your false eyelashes a more natural look along with making your look complete and more cohesive.

Hopefully these 7 easy steps help you apply your false eyelashes so they look great and allow you to ROCK your lashes!
